šŸŽˆ (#8) Unleash The Dragon

6 Elements to Greatness

Read Time: 4 Minutes

Message from the author:

When I think about the topic Unleash The Dragon, I think of Bruce Lee. Someone that was fully aware and conscious of all aspects of his lifestyle.

Agree that there was an element of obsession with his craft and what was required to achieve greatness. But for me, individuals such as Bruce Lee, show you the potential of what a human is capable of.

Whilst reading this or even before you start - think about how certain individuals you know or look up to that have found a way to release their hidden dragon, have nurtured it and now living the lifestyle they set out to live.

Enjoy fam!

This is for anyone still feeling stuck and struggling with consistency.

Still battling with the highs and lows of working towards your health and wellbeing goals.

Even if you are on track - there is still that fear of falling off.

In this issue, regardless of what stage you are at, there will be something to take away.

At this stage, you have read Issue one through to seven, right?

Lol ā€¦. no pressure if you havenā€™t, but definitely suggest you take some time to skim over them. They are like the alley-oop to future reads including this one.

The pursuit to unleash your inner dragon is one of self-discovery.

Placing this as a high priority in your life will re-focus your entire being. A mindset shift that will challenge you in multiple parts of your lifestyle and bring it all together.

Before we continueā€¦ask yourself these two questions:

  1. Who are you? Behind the layers, the mask, that built up version of yourself you display in public. Who is that ā€œinner youā€ screaming out?

  2. What do you want to achieve? Think six months, one year or even two years from now. What does that ā€œfuture youā€ look and feel like?

Finding the answer to these will support with what we go through further down.

You may have the answers now, or you may want to sit with it for a bit.

Either way, read on as you pleaseā€¦

ā

You have something specialā€¦you have greatness within you.

Part two

This is the second layer, built upon the foundations of ISSUE # 2 - LAZY TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON.

I believe we all have a purpose in life that is unique to each of us. Some get to live this out, whilst others may never get to see it flourish.

Why is that?

How do some people find the so-called secret sauce and figure out how to add it into their life?

I believe they understand the importance of their environment and how it plays a critical role.

Not only for their current health and well-being, but also to ensure they meet their future authentic self someday.

Designing, creating and building the necessary environment will allow the hidden dragon within to grow and be unleashed.

Without doing this consciously, you are just hoping that it will happen.

Butā€¦ hope is not a plan.

Below we will go through six key factors to turn hope into action.

Planting seeds

I like a good analogyā€¦

Below is how I think when reflecting on the environment we create for ourselves.

If your goal is to grow a fruit treeā€¦

A tree that would provide everlasting fruit which beneficial to your life.

Where would you start?

Probably would need a seed, right?

Once you have the seed, whatā€™s next?

Understanding the ideal environment in order to take this tiny seed and turn it into the tree of your dreams.

For a seed to grow, there are essentials required in order for this to occur.

These key factors would be soil, light, water, oxygen, temperature, consistency and patience and there is probably a few more but you get the gist.

When looking at your life, there is no difference.

You already have the seed within or hidden dragon in our case.

Your environment plays a critical role in the success of the hidden dragon being unleashed.

What you do daily, how you do it and who is around you shape your world.

Be conscious when building it and protect it with all you have.

Six elements to ā€œUnleash the Dragonā€

As you can see, unleashing your inner dragon is more like nurturing it to grow and over time turning into its true form. It is less force and more artistic strategy with action when creating a suitable environment.

Here are my top six actions for building an environment that will nurture the growth and unleash the beast within.

  1. Self-awareness.

Be honest with yourself about strengths and weaknesses. Practice some form of mindfulness to help you with this also. Things like meditation, breathwork, journaling, yoga, walking or a mixture of these will do wonders to connect with yourself, reflect and be present.

  2. Self-Talk.

Speak kindly to yourself. Practice positive self-talk daily and observe moments of negative or non-value adding talk. Your inner voice can be super critical, train this voice to support you. Remember words become things, this includes the words no one else hears but you.

  3. People Around You.

They say you are the average of the five people you surround yourself with. Review what this looks like for you. Also, the people around you need to add value to the environment you are building. Iā€™m not saying cut people out of your life, but you must be aware that who you spend your time with most can either add or subtract.

  4. Mindset

Your mindset is key as we have discussed previously. Building resilience, discipline and adaptability. Lean into moments of discomfort to build this over time. I use fasting, cold showers and certain types of training through the week to challenge myself in this space.

  5. Habits

You know my thoughts on removing toxic habits and stacking good ones by now. What we do daily matters - we are creatures of habit. Check out Issue # 3 and Issue # 4 to dive a bit deeper on this topic.

  6. Time

Patience + consistency is overlooked. Practice patience and keeping as consistent as possible. Set targets or milestones and track daily, weekly & monthly. There is no pre-determine date this will happen; you just have to move day by day. It takes time to create greatness, if a seed does not turn into a plant, donā€™t change the seed - change the environment and be patient whilst moving with purpose.

Share with a mate or family member. Pass it on and share the love.

Another issue in the bag with new thoughts, ideas and actions to takeaway.

Let me know how you are tracking and also anything that you would like to see within these newsletters.

No additional things to ponder this week - the above, should have sparked thought already.

As always, appreciate you fam and have a good week.
