Do Better!

Unplanned Letter To Subscribers

An out of schedule newsletter.

Not something I had planned or plan on doing again. I felt it necessary to write this today and send to you.

I don’t take your time for granted and want to ensure I align to the values I hold myself to when creating a brand and newsletter.

Here are some words from me to you.

Dear Subscribers,

What you received on Monday 7th August was sub-par at best.

Issue # 6 - This Is The Way, is a topic that I am passionate about.

For those who received the first release via email… It was disappointing.

There are definitely some useful gems within the article for sure.

But…

An “edited” copy, infected with that many errors… YUCK!

“Do better” is what I told myself that day.

I have created MAKER to help others find their spark, live their ideal life, work towards becoming the best version of themselves and also learn new tools or systems.

I have also created MAKER as a brand with potential. This means that the bar that I have set, is at the level of such media outlets and brands like Men’s Health, Hypebeast or KITH just to name a few.

For me, the standard of quality is that and nothing less when it comes to writing these newsletters.

I know some may say…

“Take it easy on yourself” or “You’ve just started, its ok” or “Relax, you're still learning.”

I get it…

If it was someone else, I would probably say the same thing to be honest.

But it’s not… it’s me and I don’t care about excuses lol.

If you know me, you will know how competitive I am.

Whether it’s in life, career, passion projects or sport… I challenge myself to meet a high standard once I commit.

I guess I’m just wired that way.

So… moving forward.

This isn’t a woe is me or a pity seeking letter.

This is my accountability letter to you. I don’t take your time or your trust lightly.

Two things moving forward.

  1. Lesson learnt and I fail forward. My system for writing and editing changes from this week - no writing on Sundays is my rule. This means the letter must be complete and ready for editing by Sunday mornings. I have realized that my weakness isn’t writing and creating, it is allowing time to edit.

  2. I asked myself this on Monday … “Why am I so annoyed?” I realized in that moment, I was annoyed because I care, and I believe in MAKER.

Last thing from me… MAKER isn’t just a side hustle in my mind. I’m not here to just participate in this space. I am working towards something bigger, that has a purpose.

Will I make a mistake again?

Most probably. Right now, I am committing to DO BETTER!

Thanks for taking the time out of the normal schedule today.

As always…I appreciate you.

Have a good week fam!

JC
